Bangladesh has been a regular at the ODI World Cups since its debut in the 1999 World Cup, where they beat Pakistan in the group stage. The Shakib Al Hasan-led side will kick start its 2023 campaign against fellow Asian nation Afghanistan in Dharamsala on October 7.

Bangladesh ODI World Cup 2023 Fixtures

Bangladesh has made steady growth over the last few years in international cricket. In 2015, the three-time Asia Cup runner-up reached the quarter-finals, while they beat South Africa and West Indies in the league stage in the 2019 edition. With the upcoming World Cup in the subcontinent, Bangladesh is expected to challenge the big teams and cause a few upsets.

In their World Cup 2023 opener, Bangladesh will face Afghanistan, whom they overcame in the recently concluded Asia Cup group stage. The Tigers have a challenging task in their next three games as they take on England, New Zealand, and India, respectively. They are the only team to play three 10:30 AM fixtures in the World Cup. Bangladesh ends its league stage campaign against Australia on November 11 in Pune.

Concluding Thoughts

Bangladesh has an excellent blend of young and experienced players. They have recently defeated India in the Asia Cup and had their moments against other big teams. A semi-final spot isn’t a realistic expectation. However, playing in familiar conditions and a group of quality players make Bangladesh a dangerous team in the upcoming World Cup.
