Matthew Wade & D’Arcy Short – 203

Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short became the second pair to stitch a double hundred partnership in BBL. Against Adelaide Strikers, the Hobart Hurricanes duo of Wade and Short started with a bang. Wade smashed an unbeaten century, while Short struck 72 off 55 balls. The 130 by the wicketkeeper-batter is the third-highest individual score in BBL. The openers put on 203 runs, helping the Hobart Hurricanes reach 217. In reply, the Adelaide Strikers put on a fight but fell short of the target by ten runs.

Luke Wright & Rob Quiney – 172

Another top partnership, another opening partnership! Melbourne Stars openers Luke Wright and Rob Quiney were in no mood to spare the Hobart Hurricanes in the first-ever meeting between both sides in the BBL. Wright, an attacking batter, went into destructive mode, scoring 117 runs in just 60 balls. On the other hand, Quiney scored 62, providing excellent support to his partner. Melbourne Stars piled up 203 runs. In reply, the Hurricanes went down fighting by 19 runs.

Shaun Marsh & Michael Klinger – 171*

Chasing a modest total of 171 against Melbourne Renegades, Perth Scorchers openers Shaun Marsh and Michael Klinger were at their destructive best. In the BBL 2014-15 league stage fixture, the Scorchers opening duo chased down the target with eight balls to spare. Klinger scored an unbeaten 90 off 58 balls, while Marsh made 76. Both batters hit three sixes each.

Jake Weatherald & Alex Carey – 171

The fifth-highest partnership in BBL is also by an opening pair. Adelaide Strikers’ Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey put the sword on Hobart Hurricanes bowlers in the BBL 2017-18 season. Carey went after the bowlers early on, scoring 100 off just 56 balls. Meanwhile, Weatherald made 65.
